3.- The Respiratory System - General System Function

General System Function:

The respiratory system allows us to breathe through a series of organs responsible for collecting the oxygen and expulsion dioxide carbon. It provides the amount of oxygen needed for our cells.
Our body needs oxygen to live.
If our oxygen decreases this is known as hypoxia, after four minutes without oxygen, brain cells begin to die and can lead to brain damage and ultimately death.
Our average rate of respiration is dependent on age. For example a baby's breathing is 40 times per minute, or an adult is 12 to 16 times per minute. It also has the physical effort that will have an effect on the respiratory frequency.

1.- Digestive System - Process Of The System

Process Of The System:

1. It is the process of eating

2. The food passes through the pharynx and esophagus.

3. The food reached the stomach will absorb nutrients and decompose.

4. In the small intestine also break down food and absorb most of the nutrients.

5. In the large intestine absorb nutrients few remaining.

6. The waste passes through the rectum and decide whether or not to expel them.

7. Defecation is the process of disposing of waste undigested.

1.- Digestive System - Organs And Functions

Organs and Functions:

Mouth: The meal begins first by mouth (consists of teeth) for grinding, cutting food and make them smaller.

Pharynx: It is a tube that connects the mouth, has two functions: driving the food into the esophagus and the other duct air larynx.

Esophagus: It carries food to the stomach.

Stomach: An organ that holds food while mixing with gastric juices, decompose to transport food into the small intestine.

Small intestine: Is a long tube 6 meters breaks down food with gastric juice by the pancreas and bile.
When food enter and end with semi solid and liquid form, after passing through the organ.

Large intestine: Is a shorter tube and measures 1.5 meters. Absorbs water and decompose the waste to extract small amounts of nutrients.

Rectum: When waste they enter the rectum "send" messages to the brain that can decide whether waste can be released or not.
When released the muscles relax and will dispose its contents.
When they are not released the muscles contract and can not be eliminated.
